Want a tattoo which symbolizes strength? Then this probably won’t come as a surprise, but a lion tattoo is a logical choice. Tattoos are beautiful representations and expressions of how we feel and it’s a great way to tell others through the imagery of art. That being said, like all art, tattoos are expensive. They take time and skill and if you want it to look good, it’ll definitely cost you. A single image is going to be a lot cheaper than a whole sleeve of art so as you contemplate whether or not you’d like to invest in a whole sleeve, make sure you allot space in your budget to make it happen. Typically you go into your shop several times in order to complete the sleeve so you may be able to work something out with your artist and do a payment plan if you plan in advance. Who knows, maybe they’ll give you a discount since you’re committing to a whole sleeve. It never hurts to ask. Once you’ve researched how much you’ll have to invest, enjoy the process and get ready to be amazed by the finished results.
It is funny to see how man people want copies of someone else’s tattoo, where is the originality in that? I think it is a good idea to look at designs to get a better idea of what you like and want, but a bit lame if you are only going to copy someone’s work. A tattoo should be a depiction of your own likes and ideas… Well that is only my 2c worth. Some great sleeves on here… Sitting at the shop at the moment while the artist is prepping for my shoulder piece. Have a great day tattoo lovers
Based in a private studio in Germany, Mike Wolf incorporates mandalas and mandala-inspired designs into much of his creative life. They’re seen in many of his tattoos as well as his linocut printmaking and t-shirt line. But no matter the medium, the sweeping curves and concentric circles are made with the solid geometric shapes, proving that what’s left out is just as important as what’s added in.

Calling this his “creature sleeve,” artist Ville Prinsen incorporated one of his favorite styles—blackwork—into the design. The nearly-blackout approach sets the stage for these under-the-sea figures. When looking at his client’s arm, it’s as if the creatures have fallen into the depths of the ocean where there’s very little light. This tattoo is a departure from much of his portfolio, however, which mostly incorporates smaller, single subjects like insects, animals, flowers, and mandalas.

There are all types of animals in the world. Animals are known as heterotroph which means other organisms must be eaten to be able to survive. The word animal itself comes from the Latin language, and the meaning of it is breath. All animals are considered to be one of many various sub-groups, and some of these include vertebrae, insects and spiders to name a few. The type of animal tattoo design you design to get will determine what it means. For instance, if you get a wolf tattoo, this is a symbol of power. Wolves were predators that used to be considered cunning and even evil by some. Getting a sleeve tattoo is a big investment in terms of both cost and hours spent a chair. For this reason a lot of guys go in to add one or two small tattoos from time to time while tying it all together with a matching background. Another approach is to take on the entire sleeve at once, which means more cash upfront and longer hours at a time. If you have the money and both you and your artist have the time, go for it. Otherwise, have patience knowing that eventually your sleeve will be complete and looking awesome.
